| Janet Skiles has always loved animals and art. When you put the two together you get Janimals! These whimsical characters are products of Janet's immense talent and her love for all creatures - great and small. As an avid photographer, Janet gets much of her inspiration from the many pictures she has taken along her vast travels.
Janet lives in a small Illinois town with a very small and very
entertaining black dog and a no-nonsense cat that comes running when she
whistles. It is here that she creates Janimals plus the many other
projects she has going at any one given time. Janet's art has appeared
on greeting cards, posters, books, note cards, needlework and decorative
flags. Janet's most recent fame has come from paintings that have been
turned into shape puzzles which she has created for Ravensburger/F.X.
Schmid. These puzzles have been sold throughout the United States and
Europe.
Items made from Janet's artwork have received the Oppenheim Toy
Portfolio Gold Seal Best Toy Award, Toy of the Year 1999 Parenting
Winner Award from Parenting Magazine, and the National Parenting
Publications Gold Award in 1996. Her work has appeared in National
Geographic and National Wildlife Gift Catalogs as well as other nature
company stores and gift catalogs.
